JORGE SAMPAIO, POR PAULA REGO

Interessantíssima, a entrevista de Paula Rego ao The Guardian, hoje. Achei divertida esta passagem, a propósito do retrato que fez ao Presidente Jorge Sampaio: "Painting the portrait of the president of Portugal, Jorge Sampaio, nearly killed me. We started working in the studio of the last king of Portugal: he’d been a very good painter and had a studio in what is now the president’s official residence. It was quite impossible – people kept coming in and saying, “That arm isn’t quite right”, or, “His nose isn’t like that.” In the end I said: “Maybe we should go somewhere else.” We went to a room full of glass cupboards and I worked very hard".
